K proėktu ob organizacii tvorčeskoj laboratorii (Design for the Organisation of the Creative Laboratory I)
This scheme supplements proposals that Vertov had already submitted in writing to the studio directors of Mežrabpomfil'm for the reorganisation of film work (cf. diary entries from the year 1936). The diagram shows how Vertov imagined the plan of his so-called "Creative Laboratory": the core is the room of the director, who has his operational headquarters in the editing room. He has access to the 'Recording apparatus', which he imagines as being a mobile, fully equipped bus. A direct connection also exists to the "author's filmotheque" - an archive of historical and up-to-date footage - as well as thirdly to the "information station", a kind of production office, where all the information is pooled.
