V 004

Tema (Thema)
A poem composed and handwritten by Vertov himself, containing four consecutively numbered verses and an additional unnumbered verse on the back. Undated. Some lines have been crossed out and some parts have been blotted out by large ink stains. the third verse has been added top right transposed by ninety degrees. Moreover, a second text (in green crayon and likewise handwritten) has been added on the back in the opposite direction, i.e. from below to above, this time in block letters.
Classification: Handwritten Diagram or Document
Type: Poem
Date: 1917 (?), eher nach 1939
Tapematerial: Paper with Handwriting
Original / Reproduction: Original
Comments: It is a dialog between 'P' and 'V' (Vertov), thus displaying similarities with the first poem 'Tema': "P" accuses "V" of various things, including not having a car and not having a dacha - a clear indication that it is a poem from the 1930s, when Vertov was intensely preoccupied with being underprivileged himself. Typically for Vertov, it is written on a loose piece of paper and makes use of every imaginable corner of the sheet.
