Comments: | A very interesting document, since it is one of the few surviving musical sketches for a Vertov film. It is not a matter of a special musical composition, but rather of catalogue music, i.e selected passages of well-known classical pieces (e.g. Richard Wagners' "Flying Dutchman"), with some experimental sound production. In some cases rather conventional allocations to the takes, for example Dixieland jazz for the Afro-American dancers, or the 'Japanese Suite' for the Asiatic tribe, the Samoyeds. This document is the second copy of the original, made around the same time. The original is in RGALI. |
