| Comments: | In June 1926 Vertov joined the ARK, the "Association for Revolutionary Film" which had been founded in 1925 as an association of theorists, critics and film-makers who were especially interested in the Kulturfil'm genre and who were also in favour of the kind of fusion of science and film practice which was so important to Vertov. ARK organised debates and workshops and the directors had the opportunity to justify their films (in fact, they were obliged to do so). In 1928 the ARK was renamed ARRK ("Association of the Workers for Revolutionary Film"). Vertov's membership number then was 50, which was recorded in the membership book in January 1928, together with the statutes of the association and the membership fees. | |
